Prime Minister visits Stabilization Facility for Libya project sites in Obari

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord, Fayez Al-Sarraj, arrived in Obari this morning together with Vice President of the Presidential Council Ahmed Hamza, the Minister of Local Government Badad Gansou, and the Minister of Health Omar Bashir.

Other members of the delegation included the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Sayala, Minister of Labor Mahdi Warathmi, Minister of Social Affairs Fadi Mansour and undersecretaries of the Ministries of Education, Defense and Transport.

It is the first official visit of the President of the Presidential Council to Obari. The agenda of the trip included visits to several municipal buildings rehabilitated by the Stabilization Facility for Libya (SFL), an initiative led by the Government of National Accord and implemented by UNDP.

The delegation made their first stop at Obari General Hospital, where SFL renovated several medical rooms and today is the only public hospital functioning in its full potential in the region.

During the visit, Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj, stated:

"What we have seen in Obari today is that when there is political will, anything can be achieved. Through our visit we try to solve the problems related to services for the residents of Obari and finding solutions to accumulating problems. The Obari Electric Station has been launched today and the various ministries take quick actions to solve the security, political and health problems in Obari."

The SFL also provided the center with water pumps and rehabilitated the water supply system. The First Aid Unit of the hospital received an ambulance that has been transporting patients from Ubari to Sebha, Murzug, Ghat and Tripoli since August.

The Minister of Health, Omar Bashir, highlighted the positive impact of the Facility during the trip to the main health facility of Obari,"

"We have been working on the renovation carried out by the SFL inside the Obari Hospital and working to improve the health services provided by the hospital. The ministry has already launched a 'visiting doctor program', which consists of medical convoys of specialized doctors visiting Obari Hospital, and we also anticipate delivery of an MRI. Procedures will be taken soon to provide a budget for solving the hospital's problems, as well as contracting medical staff for the benefit of the hospital. The operating room has been fully equipped as well."

The delegation continued its journey to visit the different project sites of the facility including the Women's Center, which has been completed, and the work in progress at the public market and three schools; The al Qurania School, Al-Markazeiha School, and a High School.

Obari municipality has received two generators and one pesticide sprayer truck through the SFL, the Facility will provide the General Hospital with medical equipment.

The Stabilization Facility for Libya is an immediate stabilization initiative which provides quick rehabilitation of critical infrastructure to support local authorities to improve delivery of services to their citizens.
