Cost sharing agreement

25 October 2016: Tunis, Tunisia: The government of the Netherlands contributed funds in the amount of USD 543,478 to UNDP Libya. The contribution will be used to support women’s empowerment programme in Libya through the AMEL (HOPE) project designed to advancing Libyan Women’s Participation During the Transition period.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands, Mr. Eric Strating said: “we are happy to partner with UNDP and the Government of National Accord and join our efforts to the advancement of women in the transition process in Libya”.

The UNDP Country Director, Ms Noura Hamladji, thanked the Netherlands for this substantive contribution and for the fruitful cooperation of the Netherlands government in support of peace and stability in Libya.

AMEL project is designed to support the advancement of participation of Libyan women in decision making during the political transition phase.  The project aims to redress marginalization of Libyan women in political decision making and to work towards inclusion of gender perspectives in transitional policies and legislation.

 

Apart from the Netherlands, the AMEL project is supported by the governments of Germany and Switzerland
