The Strengthening Local Capacity for Resilience and Recovery in Libya project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), funded by the European Union, has concluded in partnership with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the EU Delegation to Libya, the EU Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) and the EU Liaison and Planning Cell (EULPC), a workshop with the Libyan Ministry of Interior (MoI) and personnel of the Hai Al-Andalus Police Station. The objective was to stablish a road map for the center, which is to become the first ‘Model Police Station’ (MPS) in Libya.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Sirte, Mokhatar Khalifa Al-Madani; the member of Sirte Municipal Council in charge of education, Saleh Saleh, and the director of the Educational Services Office in Sirte, Muftah Ageela, together with representatives from the Information and International Cooperation offices, officially inaugurated Al Fath Primary School, after reconstruction work undertaken by the Stabilization Facility for Libya (SFL).

As part of its efforts to promote national reconciliation among the Libyans, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) organized a two-day meeting in Tunis on 20 and 21 September, between delegations from Zintan and Tripoli, in order to facilitate a safe and peaceful return of internally displaced people (IDPs) hosted by the city of Zintan to their homes in the capital.

Work has begun on rehabilitating a part of the municipality building, now dedicated to setting up Markez Fetat-Obari or Girl Obari Centre, a Centre for supporting women in the region.
