The government of the Netherlands contributed funds in the amount of USD 543,478 to UNDP Libya. The contribution will be used to support women’s empowerment programme in Libya through the AMEL (HOPE) project designed to advancing Libyan Women’s Participation During the Transition period.
UNDP kick starting the stabilization facility programme in Libya

UNDP Libya Country Director (CD), Noura Hamladji visited Libya to kick starting the stabilization facility programme for Libya. Accompanied by Programme Coordinator and Stabilization Facility project manager, the CD discussed with Municipality of Kikla to start the assessment on stabilization facility. The objective of the meeting was to consult and get first-hand information on the priorities of the municipalities.

The Netherlands and UNDP signed an Agreement for two million euros towards the Stabilization Facility for Libya. The cost sharing agreement comes following the decision of the Stabilization Facility for Libya Project Board to initiate a quick assessment in Benghazi, Kikla and Obari.

The Stabilization Facility for Libya Project Board met this morning in Tunis under the leadership of HE Dr. Taher Al-Jehaimi, Minister of Planning and Mr. Ali Al-Za’tari, the Deputy SRSG and UNDP Resident Representative, as well as the Ambassadors or representatives of the EU, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Switzerland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and United States of America. The Board decided that the first locations benefitting from the support of the Facility would be in Benghazi, Obari and Kikla.

Dr. Taher Al-Jehaimi, Minister of Planning in the Libyan Government of National Accord, Mr. Rüdiger König, Director General of Crisis Prevention, Stabilization and Peace Building in the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany and Mr. Ali Al-Za’tari, UNSMIL Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General, and Dr. Noura Hamladji, UNDP Libya Country Director.
