    UNDP Supporting Rule of Law and Access to Justice in Libya through Enhancing Capacities

    As part of its Rule of Law and Access to justice Programme, UNDP organized a four-day-training workshop from 06 to 09 July 2013 on developing questionnaires. The objectives of the workshop were to conduct a base–line survey with recommendations on strategies to improve access to justice for IDPs, and to enhance the capacity of local civil society organizations to design, organize and implement base line studies on mapping key aspects of the administration of justice and development issues in Libya.

    Strengthening Capacities of GNC committee Staff

    UNDP Libya, in cooperation with the General National Congress (GNC), organized two training workshops between 19-26 June 2013 in Tripoli, Libya. The two-day workshops, targeting 45 committee staff members representing more than 20 GNC committees, aimed at raising awareness and developing capacities of committee staff to more effectively carry out their functions in support of the committees’ work.

    Roundtable Discussion on Environment

    On 13 December 2012 a round table discussion on environment and sustainable development took place with the overall aim of discussing with all concerned stakeholders, including the, Environment General Authority, the National Economic Development Board, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the General Electricity Company of Libya, the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Committee to Combat Desertification, and the Artificial River (formerly known as the Great Man Made River), and local environmental NGOs the priorities and trigger a dialogue for better coordination and future collaboration.

    United Nations humanitarian fund allocates $5 million for emergency response in Libya

    New York, 2 March 2011): The United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos has allocated US$ 5 million dollars from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to kick-start emergency efforts to help people fleeing violence in Libya.
