    The Strengthening Local Capacity for Resilience and Recovery in Libya project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), funded by the European Union, has concluded in partnership with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the EU Delegation to Libya, the EU Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) and the EU Liaison and Planning Cell (EULPC), a workshop with the Libyan Ministry of Interior (MoI) and personnel of the Hai Al-Andalus Police Station. The objective was to stablish a road map for the center, which is to become the first ‘Model Police Station’ (MPS) in Libya.

    UNDP and UNSMIL organized a two-day workshop in Tunis to address issue of arbitrary/prolonged detention in Libya in the framework of national reconciliation. More than 40 Libyan stakeholders, including mayors, municipal representatives, officials, prosecutors, representatives of the judicial police and civil society, participated in the workshop.

    A two-day workshop addressing internal displacement issues within a national reconciliation framework concluded last Thursday in Tunis. Organized by UNDP and UNSMIL, the training drew participants from the Supreme Committee for the Return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to discuss the establishment of a resettlement commission, reparation programs and funding mechanisms that could improve relations and mutual understanding between displaced persons and outreach mechanism.

    As people around the world celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, the oasis town of Obari in South west Libya has some cause to celebrate today. Work has begun on rehabilitating a part of the municipality building, now dedicated to setting up Markez Fetat-Obari or Girl Obari Centre, a Centre for supporting women in the region.
